2023 Evening Speaker Series- Survivorship

Join the Nebraska Oncology Society for a live event on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 for this year's fourth and final presentation of its Evening Speaker Series 2023. This survivorship-focused presentation titled "Survivorship After Transplant and CAR-T for Hematologic Diseases" will take place from 5:00pm-7:30pm CDT at the Omaha Marriott, 10220 Regency Circle, Omaha and will feature a presentation by Dr. Nausheen Ahmed, Assistant Professor of Hematologic Malignancies and Cellular Therapeutics at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

About our speaker:

 

Dr. Nausheen Ahmed is a board certified hematologist. She graduated from the hematology oncology fellowship at Tufts University in 2015. Since then, Dr. Ahmed has completed an advanced fellowship training in stem cell transplant and immune effector cell therapy at Case Western. Her passion is treating patients with hematologic disorders such as leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma with emphasis on stem cell transplantation and immune effector cell therapies. Dr. Ahmed is deeply committed to helping patients achieve the best possible outcomes through the use of the latest and most effective treatment options available. Her research interests involve quality and process improvements, care delivery with respect to CAR T therapy and increasing diversity in clinical trials. She is also actively involved in research aimed at improving outcomes for patients with blood cancers.

Her expertise is in managing transplant and cellular therapy related toxicities. Dr. Ahmed also focuses on late effects and survivorship in the patient population. Dr. Ahmed strives to identify and meet the unique challenges of our transplant and cell therapy survivors. This includes not only their physical health, but also their emotional well-being. She works closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care that supports survivors throughout their recovery journey, from monitoring for any long-term effects of treatment to helping them navigate the challenges of returning to normal life.
